Winnebago Industries Moves Production from West Coast to Forest City

Last Year, Winnebago Industries made the decision to move the production of Class A Diesel RV manufacturing back to Forest City from the West Coast. Winnebago invested $5.3 million on building remodeling and new equipment in Forest City and hired many additional workers with this change in location.

Winnebago’s World Headquarters and Manufacturing Facility is located in Forest City and is one of the largest employers in the area. Winnebago manufactures a number of outdoor lifestyle products including motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and boats. Winnebago Industries, Inc. produces products under the brands of Winnebago, Grand Designs, Newmar brands, and Chris-Craft Boats.

North Iowa Area Community College has access to state-of-the-art equipment to train potential hires for any manufacturing operation. The Industrial Technology Division offers specialized instruction in construction, machining, air conditioning, diesel, automotive technical skills. Program labs offer hands-on training with state-of-the-art equipment, computers, and software.

The Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) at Iowa State University works to enhance the performance of the manufacturing industry in Iowa. CIRAS does this by providing customized training through technical assistance and seminars to Iowa’s current manufacturers. Areas of focus include engineering, management practices, productivity, energy, procurement, bio-renewables and quality management.

The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Metal Casting Center is a leader in foundry research, applied technology and technical business assistance. The Center is consists of the materials research and foundry site at the Information Technology Center in Cedar Falls and the additive manufacturing center in Waterloo.
