SMART START CLASS

Start Smart Workshop to be offered in Forest City

Start Smart workshops are for anyone considering starting or expanding a business. The on-going workshops are free in Mason City and other communities in North Iowa. Start Smart is being offered by North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC).

Participants will learn how to create a business plan, do market research, consider different types of business ownership and learn how to register a business. Start Smart will be offered:

· Tuesday, August 11 from 6:00pm—8:00pm at the Forest City Innovation Center

1144 Highway 69 North, Forest City, IA 50436

“The activities involved in starting a business fall under two broad categories—feasibility, which is the business plan, and administrative tasks,” said Brook Boehmler, SBDC Director. “While we like to focus on the feasibility issue, Start Smart provides information and the chance to ask questions on numerous other topics.” Those include:

Business Registration

  • Doing Customer research
  • How Bankers Evaluate Business Concepts and Loans
  • Start-up Costs
  • Business Plan tips
  • And More

After attending Start Smart, Small Business Development Center (SBDC) staff will be available by appointment to assist you in reviewing your business plan, or to provide guidance with other issues. To register, contact Mary Spitz at NIACC: 641.422.4342.
